Wuhan University

China’s most beautiful campus, home to the world’s No.1 remote sensing school

Tracing its origins to the Ziqiang Institute of 1893, Wuhan University (WHU) is one of China’s oldest national universities and a Double First Class institution ranked inside the global top 200. Its Luojia Hill campus beside East Lake—with 1930s green-tiled academic palaces and thousands of cherry trees—is widely called the most beautiful in China. Academically, WHU is the undisputed world leader in surveying, mapping and remote sensing, and equally strong in law, water resources, hydropower and library science. For international students, Wuhan combines top-tier research access with living costs well below Beijing or Shanghai, in a central city of 13 million connected to the whole country by high-speed rail.
