Renmin University of China

China’s foremost university for economics, law and social governance

Renmin University of China (RUC) traces its origins to Shaanbei Public School in 1937 and became New China’s first modern comprehensive university dedicated to the humanities and social sciences. Located in Beijing’s Haidian district beside Zhongguancun, its compact Zhongguancun campus and newer Tongzhou campus concentrate on economics, law, finance, journalism, public administration, statistics and philosophy. RUC holds more national first-tier disciplines in the social sciences than any other Chinese university, and its faculty regularly advise national ministries on economic, legal and media policy. For international students, RUC offers English-taught degrees in economics, business and China studies alongside one of the country’s most respected Chinese language and China-focused academic environments.
